Apparently The House Shrunk

Moving blows big purple donky wads.  There's jumst no nicer way to put it.  The occasion may be joyful but the act is horrific.  For the first time ever I hired movers to do the job.  It's hard to say if it's worth it.  They did a good job and all but the cost was about 3 times greater than anticipated.  I didn't want to try to get our friends to help this time as they moved us about a year ago and I just thought that would be too much too soon.  As it was it was a 2 day job for the movers and the second day was 15 hours straight.  They finished up about midnight last night.  At least I know what the cost of something like this is now.  To add to everything I've been sick as a dog for the last few days.  I'm a wus when I'm sick and having to exert myself in that condition was way more than I wanted to do.  Fortunately, the worst is done.  The vast majority is moved with a few odds and ends remaining at the old house.

It's a cold, gray and dreary day here at the new HQ.  Even so the view out the window is beautiful.  The pack of non ranch dogs is fascinated with the animals roaming about just beyond the fence.  The llama is none to fond of the new commers and would likely kick the snot out of them if she could get to them.  And of course, they have to bark at it all.  Things are goint to take some time to settle down I expect.  It's good to be here no matter what.  Now it's off to town for a part for the washer that doesn't quite hook up to the drain correctly.  Back soon with more tales from the ranch.

  1. After the unpacking, and after you can breathe again, when it's officially "Home" ... it'll get better. Lots better.

    Hang in there, friend.

  2. Looking foward to that and not being sick!

  3. I was always struck by how I had the same amount of furniture, shelves, etc yet none of my stuff went back exactly like it did before.

It was some weird dimensional shift/rubic's cube thing that I didn't appreciate.

At least it is an opportunity to revisit memories as you unpack and put things away.

    Congrats on the move
