Mr. President and Gun Control

Today, our commander and king announced his sweeping gun control agenda.  One liberal site called it "bold".  Whatever...  My favorite quote is this one though.

"If there's even one life that can be saved, then we've got an obligation to try."

-  President Obama  Jan 16, 2013
Fine, if you really mean that then lets also do these things:

  1. Force all non emergency road vehicles to travel no faster than 10 miles per hour.  Thousands of lives saved per year right there.
  2. Ban all flamable materials from construction.
  3. Ban alcohol.
  4. Ban sugar.
  5. Ban civilian air travel.
  6. Ban virtually any other activity that has the slightest mortality rate.  I'm sure there are lots of them.
After all, if it can save even one life we should try right?

  1. I'm beginning to think it was just another trial balloon, to see who would squawk, and how loudly.

  2. Since his executive orders were rather lame (at least from what little I know of them so far) he has left it up to Congress to do or not do. That way, as is his custom, he can blame them when they don't give him what he wants. I'll tell you what though, this got some great reactions from the states!

  3. Groundhog,

First and foremost, HUSH. Don't give them ideas on what to do next.

Second, ever notice how 'we have to try' doesn't include things like actually letting people defend themselves?

Third, I wrote up my thoughts on the Executive Orders/Actions and maybe I'm a little more paranoid but I see lots of problems with them. I don't think they are as innocuous as many people think. I see them as first steps in a chain; President Obama is just smart enough not to show his hand too soon.
